Killdeer Protector
This Killdeer was leading me on a merry chase away from his/her four already fledged chicks. I am amazed that they were still carrying on while their chicks could simply just fly away from me.
The chicks seemed unfazed by the performance and just stood calmly nearby on the berm watching the parent run back and forth and make a racket while they preened themselves.
Perhaps since they have spent their short month or so life watching trucks drive by and look at them they perceived no threat.
